  Latency is a big big problem to solve for online jam sessions. The only solution I can think of is to have a conductor. They need one even in an orchestra in the same room, partially because of the latency of the sound traveling across the room. Unfortunately playing a song together is nowhere close to jamming as jamming is more of a conversation between the players.
  
  I suggest to develop an AI-based prediction of the performance just enough to close the latency gap, and show the predicted real time performance to other players.
