人の成功を「手伝う人」こそが最も成功する理由

そもそもフォロワーがいないとリーダーも生まれない訳ですが、リーダーシップに関する話は巷に溢れている一方、フォロワーシップのそれはほとんど見かけません。
フォロワーの方が原理的に人数も多いので、もっと注目されていいと思います。This past summer I read the English version of this book, “Trillion Dollar Coach,” in June. I was very intrigued with Bill Campbell. He was arguably the only person who could say “No” to Steve Jobs and experience no backlash from Steve.
I wondered how is that so? Many people have shared their difficult experiences working directly with Steve. But, rightly so, the focus of this book is about the coach and mentor behind Apple, Google and other successful companies and their leaders.
If someone asked me who I would aspire to be, I would say Bill Campbell, truly a humble and honest coach/mentor well respected in Silicon Valley, but he did not seek out attention and the main stream press. He loved being on the field with young athletes, even with the toddler age kids.
Reading about Campbell reminded me of one of Zig Ziglar’s famous quotes.
“You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help enough other people get what they want.”他者が成功できるように手伝う人。必ずしも成功するとは限らないけど、それでも成功するように支援することは並みの努力ではないでしょう。ただ、自分には、そういうセンスがあったという見方ができます。自分が直接成功するより誰かの成功のために動くという自分の歩みこそが、自分の人生に対する成功なんだと。
どちらかと言えば、私もそういう考えで人を育てることで、その人が成功していく姿をみるのが自分の幸せだったりします。人が幸せになってる姿って他の何よりも価値がある。人の歩みは人の幸せに繋がっています。
